Sharing the same design principles used throughout the Envy range and using proven audiophile components help define the Envy2 as one of the best performing small loudspeakers available today.

The Envy2 combines a decoupled ferrite core bass driver with a Planar high frequency driver.

The drive-units are all manufactured by specialist companies to DBA specification. 

The DBA bass driver utilises a 3” voice-coil and is shaped for an optimum response and dispersion, the cones appearance is less ‘cone’ and more ‘dome’. The central portion is not a dust cap as utilised in most other drivers of this size, it is formed 1-piece diaphragm and the Carbon/Kevlar construction helps achieve the sonic precision and minimal cross-cone distortion we strive for in our design principles.

DBA have sourced a particular variant in the RT1C-A Planar to perform the higher frequency response to the limits and beyond our listening spectrum.

The Planar type driver is a proven and capable method of reproducing high frequency sound accurately across wide ranging amplitudes.

Unlike conventional tweeter designs this design of the planar has an extremely wide horizontal sound dispersion which is integral to the wide focal capabilities of the Envy range and complements the 'lensing' effect of the pistonic speakers bezel.

Each Envy2 loudspeaker comprises; 

•  165mm Carbon/Kevlar Polycomposite driver with a decoupled ferrite motor and 80mm Voice-Coil for an incredibly rich yet accurate bass response.
•  50mm Isodynamic neodymium core Planar with its integral exponentially flared wave guide for maximum sound dispersion accurately reproduces the upper spectrum.

Both spheres utilised in the Envy2 are mounted on precision machined aeronautical aluminium sphere to sphere collars which have a mechanical internal connection and a 360 degree external bonded* connection. To exploit the volume dynamics of the connected spheres internal sphere to sphere porting is employed, these parabolas both aid the flow and acceleration of the moving air whilst remaining silent and non detrimental to the function of the loudspeaker drivers.

The final element of importance to the sphere is its texture internal and eternally. internally we employ a constantly variable micro surfacing which delivers unrivalled resonance reduction in an already incomparable curved surface. Externally our 16 layer lacquering process ensures the smoothest and strongest surface, so friction-free any errant diffracting wave couldn’t gain enough purchase to deflect outward and if the look of carbon isn’t your desire our pallet of lacquer dies, full colours and coloured flock will make these a stand out or be discrete yet functional art pieces within your home.

The compliment of spheres are in turn 360 degree bonded* to Aircraft-grade Aluminium legs, filled with non-resonant particles, complete with pressed-in polymer absorbers as found in high end motorsport applications such as Formula 1.

*Bonding - all bonding agents used in the manufacture of DBA products are exclusively used in the high vibrational environment and extreme temperature transients of Formula 1 to ensure a totally uniform energy dispersion, no errant fixings, poor torquing or gapping leading to air loss paths.
