A good loudspeaker creates the illusion of being at a musical performance and lets you hear the emotional message that the performer has woven into the music.

 

Some acoustic designers might say “The magnitude and phase should be defined from a mathematical algorithm” or “The cumulative spectral decay must exhibit X dB of clean decay in the first Y milliseconds to establish a naturally recognisable atmosphere”..


At DBA, we utilise an array of measurements which must be collated before the loudspeaker is approved for release, however above and beyond all of these final measurements its the primary decision making procedure that defines the path of the development of the loudspeaker, how it is adjusted and perfected for it life. 

We find our blind listening session are far more important to our goal of producing excellence - emotions are hard to measure but easy to receive and perfect.

the Ultimate Performance

Each Envy3 loudspeaker comprises; 

  •  200mm Carbon/Kevlar Polycomposite driver with a decoupled ferrite motor and 80mm Voice-Coil for an incredibly rich yet accurate bass response.
  •  super-wide-band 80mm Carbon/Kevlar Polycomposite driver which compliments its larger sibling in timbre and seamless integrates with it.
  •  50mm Isodynamic neodymium core Planar with its integral exponentially flared wave guide for maximum sound dispersion completes the compliment of the upper spectrum.
  •  120mm flat carbon & honeycomb sandwich passive driver, weighted to enhance the lowest octave of the listening experience.

All three spheres are mounted on precision machined aeronautical aluminium sphere to sphere collars which have a mechanical internal connection and a 360 degree external bonded* connection. To exploit the volume dynamics of the connected spheres internal sphere to sphere porting is employed, these parabolas both aid the flow and acceleration of the moving air whilst remaining silent and non detrimental to the function of the loudspeaker drivers.


The final element of importance to the sphere is its texture internal and eternally. internally we employ a constantly variable micro surfacing which delivers unrivalled resonance reduction in an already incomparable curved surface. Externally our 16 layer lacquering process ensures the smoothest and strongest surface, so friction-free any errant diffracting wave couldn’t gain enough purchase to deflect outward and if the look of carbon isn’t your desire our pallet of lacquer dies, full colours and coloured flock will make these a stand out or discrete yet functional art piece within your home.


The compliment of spheres are in turn 360 degree bonded* to Aircraft-grade Aluminium legs, filled with non-resonant particles, complete with pressed-in polymer absorbers as found in high end Motorsport applications such as Formula 1.


*Bonding - all bonding agents used in the manufacture of DBA products is exclusively used in the high vibrational environment and extreme temperature transients of Formula 1 to ensure a totally uniform energy dispersion, no errant fixings, poor torquing or gapping leading to air loss paths.


The Envy3 is one of the most immersive, spatially coherent and stunning looking loudspeakers available on the market today.
